North Korea's Rocket Launch

North Korea has finally been successful in launching a rocket under the rule of Kim Jong UN and its people   

are happy. They celebrated in a parade in Pyongyang and hailed their ruler for bringing them this victory. Kim Jong UN Has also been successful in sending a satellite to space in the same week as the successful rocket launch. Although Washington does not approve of North Korea getting missiles since the United States are in a six-party talk that includes China, Japan, Russia, and South Korea. This is basically a meeting between the people of each country to halt the missile program of North Korea which started in 2003 but have been stalled since 2008. I think the United States should at least talk to North Korea and find out what their real intentions are with the rockets.

Hurricane sandy has ravaged many states like Connecticut and Delaware. It has taken out power lines all over the east coast. As much as 8.5 million homes and business without power and has gone down to 5.6 million. It has left many people dead and millions of homes destroyed. The president took his time to visit New Jersey, a victim of hurricane sandy and give a helping hand to victims of the major hurricane. I liked how he took time off his day to visit the victims and the election is in a couple of weeks. It shows he cares about other things other than the election.

War on Drugs

Bob Schieffer asked Romney and Obama what was the longest war and they both responded it was the war in Afghanistan, but it is actually the war on the drugs the longest. It just turned 40 years old and we have spend more than one trillion dollars on it. Rocky Anderson said that we don't need to put up more regulations . We need to end the drug prohibition and treat it like a health and education issue.

Economy

Barack Obama has been steadily growing the number of jobs that are available. He is steadily trying to bring back our economy. It is not going to be fast but in the long run well get there. We have seen 31 months of straight job growths. He has added 500,000 manufacturing jobs and that’s the most growth since 1997. He rescued the auto industry from collapsing and it has been paying off by adding more jobs. He has done a lot to the economy.

Obama Visits Chicago

I am surprised that Obama had the time to visit his hometown and voted early. This is the first time anyone has ever voted while in office 12 days before election. He voted at the Martin Luther King community center close to his home from Kenwood. He also gave a speech about how everybody should vote now so you don’t get stuck in bad weather trying to vote. I think it’s great that he took the time of out his busy schedule to come to Chicago not only to vote but to speak with his supporters.

Failed States

 The slide that stood out to me was number 6 Afghanistan. It stood out to me because of the  girl in the middle of all the chaos and the dead baby. I just think that it's horrible what is happening to kids around the world and some of us don't even know that that was happening. I think that no kid should have to suffer something like that. The countries  that i saw the things they had in common was that they all had some sort of conflict, whether it was political conflict or they were fighting for power. I don't think this is acceptable in the time we are living because we have witnessed other events like the ones happening today and i think that all of the countries should know better than to commit those same crimes. I do think people are being stripped of their rights. They are being stripped of their freedom of speech. This means that people have no right to say anything about anyone especially the government. I think that other countries should try to help the people when they see that they are suffering and being hurt from their own government.
